Familion
Quiet home office with labelled folders and a cup of tea

Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur · Since 2019

Tending the conversations that hold households together.

Familion was founded on a simple observation: most households have important things they mean to talk about and papers they mean to organise — and both keep being set aside. We exist to help families clear that pile, gently and practically.

Our Story

How Familion came to be

Familion was started in 2019 by Sharifah Nadia and her colleagues after years of noticing the same pattern: families in Kuala Lumpur were deferring household conversations not because they didn't care, but because there was no clear moment or structure to have them in. Documents sat in separate drawers. Decisions were made verbally and then forgotten. Important papers — identification cards, property documents, family contact lists — were spread across the household in ways that made them hard to find when they were needed.

The founding team spent two years developing a simple, replicable approach: structured in-home sessions that gave households a shared language, a written rhythm, and a labelled records folder. The approach was tested quietly with families across Bangsar and Damansara before Familion opened to the wider public in late 2021.

Since then, the work has stayed deliberately small. We believe household organisation is a slow and careful craft. We do not rush sessions or scale at the expense of quality. Each facilitator works with a limited number of households per month so that the attention given to each family is genuine, not divided.

Our work is entirely educational and organisational. Familion does not provide professional counsel of any kind. We help families have their own conversations — we do not conduct those conversations on their behalf or represent them in any external matter.

What Guides Us

Mission and values

Our mission

To give Malaysian households practical tools for shared communication and document order — in their own homes, at their own pace, with care and without judgement.

Neutrality

A Familion facilitator holds space for a family's conversation. We do not advise, steer, or take positions. The household's decisions belong to the household.

Confidentiality

What a household shares stays in the household. Our facilitators sign agreements before any engagement. No session records leave the home without explicit consent.

Considered pace

Household organisation doesn't need urgency. Our programmes move at the pace that suits your family — and each facilitator takes on a small number of households per month to protect that quality.

How We Work

Our operating standards

Facilitator Agreements

All facilitators sign confidentiality and conduct agreements before working with any household. These are renewed annually.

Facilitation Training

Each member of the Familion team completes our internal facilitation programme — covering communication structures, household dynamics, and neutral facilitation practice.

Data Handling

Household contact and session scheduling data is held only for as long as needed. You may request deletion of your records at any time by writing to [email protected].

Session Review Process

After each completed programme, we conduct a structured internal review. This helps us refine our templates and ensures each household's experience informs the next generation of our work.

Background Checks

All facilitators who conduct in-home sessions undergo background checks prior to any household visit. Details are available on request.

Feedback Collection

Every household is offered a short feedback form after their programme ends. Responses are reviewed quarterly and used to shape our session templates and facilitator training.

Our Approach

Household communication as a household practice

The households that tend their communication well tend to share a few qualities: they have a time for household conversations that is agreed and returned to regularly; they write down what was decided and where things are kept; and they update those records when something changes. None of this requires professional input. It requires structure, a starting point, and a small amount of shared effort.

Familion's programmes provide that starting point. The Household Conversation Setup Session gives a household a single afternoon of structured work — at the end of which they have a written conversation rhythm and a simple decision-recording template. The Family Records Programme extends this across six weeks to include the household's physical documents: identification, property records, family contacts, and a written family timeline, all gathered into a labelled folder. The Annual Conversation Programme builds on both by providing a year of facilitated quarterly conversations — steady touchpoints that keep the household's communication current.

All three programmes share the same philosophy: the household's conversations belong to the household. A Familion facilitator does not advise, counsel, or represent any member of the family. They hold the structure of the session and step back. The household does the talking. The household makes the decisions. The facilitator's role is to make that easier, not to take it over.

This distinction matters. Familion is not a counselling service, a legal service, or a financial advisory. We work exclusively in the territory of household organisation and communication — the everyday, practical work of running a home together. Malaysian families who want help with that specific task are the families we are equipped to serve well.
